BSP–MEPZCEM Meeting on the Philippine Beige Book: Strengthening Regional Insights for National Policy

Meeting with BSP on the Philippine Beige Book (PBB)

On 6 March 2026, representatives from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) met with the Mactan Export Processing Zone Chamber of Exporters and Manufacturers (MEPZCEM) to discuss the forthcoming Philippine Beige Book (PBB). The PBB is a flagship report designed to provide a dynamic perspective on the national economic outlook, patterned after similar regional reports of the U.S. Federal Reserve and Bank Indonesia.

The BSP emphasized that the PBB will highlight core regional developments and thematic perspectives on emerging trends, enhancing the use of real-time, region-specific data for policymaking. In recognition of Region VII’s significant contribution to the national GDP, the BSP announced that the first PBB focusing on Central Visayas—covering key industries such as manufacturing, construction, wholesale and retail trade, agriculture, and tourism—is slated for release in the second quarter of 2026.

During the meeting, BSP sought collaboration with MEPZCEM in identifying and selecting sectoral respondents through its industry network. This partnership aims to ensure that the PBB reflects accurate and representative insights from key players in the region, thereby strengthening its role as a valuable tool for economic analysis and policy development.

The discussion emphasized the importance of industry participation in shaping the PBB, positioning it as a credible and inclusive report that captures the pulse of the Philippine economy at both national and regional levels.
